Why do we sell engagement rings with cubic zirconias?
Such a good question! The cubic zirconia that is shown is merely a symbol of what the diamond will look like (it’s anti-climactic looking at a ring with NO diamond!) Here’s the scoop – a one carat diamond can range in price from $1,000 up to $30,000, all depending on the quality. Each carat, clarity, color & color variation makes up the value of a diamond. For example, a 1.00 carat round brilliant cut diamond of SI2 clarity, H color with an ideal cut would sell for $6,000. But if you went up in quality to a VS2 clarity, F color you would be looking at $9,000.
How does this relate to an engagement ring? Well, let’s say you were planning to pop the question with this Dantela ring from Tacori.
Your budget is $10,000. The ring portion is $3,290, which leaves you with $6,710 for the feature diamond. You could either
1. go for the 1.00 carat SI2 clarity, H color and still have money left for a bottle of champagne.
2. go for a smaller diamond of higher quality.
3. go for a larger diamond of lower quality.
Three options that allow you to stay on budget – no matter what that may be! The point is that YOU are able to choose the perfect center diamond and spend what is reasonable for your circumstances. Many of our designers (including Tacori, ArtCarved, Parade & Tycoon) can make the ring of your choice for any size and shape of center diamond.
Speaking of engagement ring budgets, many guys ask us “how much do I spend on a ring?” The long and short of the answer is…there is no perfect number. Things like lifestyle, preference and goals all have a bearing. Think of what is reasonable for you and share your thoughts with us when you come to look at rings. We will listen to you and find you the perfect engagement ring.
