The jewelry shows we attend are, in one word, overwhelming. The convention center in Las Vegas is over 2 million square feet. If my math is right, that’s 45 football fields full of jewelry. And jewelry is small! Each booth has hundreds if not thousands of glittering pieces of jewelry and there are thousands of booths. How do we choose what to bring home to Kelowna & cjex.net? Read our thoughts on these pieces from the 2014 show:
We have such amazing selection of diamond engagement rings featuring a halo of diamonds around the center diamond, but I’m always on the hunt for a new twist. I found it in this lovely creation from one of our LA suppliers. I love how pronounced the diamonds are in the halo- they really beef up the 1.02 carat center diamond. It looks like a 2.50 carat cushion cut! Plus, I really dig how the focus is all up top…the band is simple and smooth, not competing for attention. There is just under 2 carats of diamonds to enjoy.
If you haven’t checked out all the goodies from this designer (link to all #63?), you are missing out. They have colors galore…and yet I choose these simple black and white studs as my top pick. The black agate gems are faceted on top to catch the light and the diamond halo is super fine for a touch of sparkle. I would wear these as my go-to daily earrings.
From our friends at Parade Design, we bring you this super sweet stackable ruby & diamond band. I love the fine details- the leaves in between each ruby & diamond, the subtle mix of high polish & satin finishes…and the crisp interchange of the gems themselves. It just wouldn’t be the same in white gold…
18K yellow gold ruby & diamond band. 3.74 grams. 5 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.19 total carat weight, VS clarity, GH color & 5 round cut rubies, 0.28 total carat weight. 3mm wide, ring size 6.5.
I’m not a huge pink fan…but I’m really digging this soft baby pink quartz gem against the yellow gold bezel. It’s clean and bold and totally fun. There are no prongs to catch on anything so it makes this ring easy peasy and very wearable. We think this would be cute paired with cobalt blue or deep wine nails.
LOVING this bracelet from one of our Vancouver suppliers. The sterling silver links are soft and smooth (so no snagging on your favorite cashmere sweater) and the oversize 14K rose gold links are organic and make the whole thing pop. I would stack this with other delicate bracelets like Gabriel & Co’s anchor bracelet. Make a fresh mix all your own.
I fell immediately and hard for this ring. First, I love the width of the band which is ever so slightly split. The shape of the pink amethyst is so geometrically wonderful – right on trend for 2015. The color is so neutral as well…I wouldn’t hesitate to pair with a black onyx or even chocolate quartz. The halo of diamonds is such a complementary size – not too big to draw the wrong kind of attention and not too small (where it doesn’t create enough drama). I think this would be a great every day ring.
