Musings of a CJEX buyer.
The jewelry shows we attend are, in one word, overwhelming. The convention center in Las Vegas is over 2 million square feet. If my math is right, that’s 45 football fields full of jewelry. And jewelry is small! Each booth has hundreds if not thousands of glittering pieces of jewelry and there are thousands of booths. How do we choose what to bring home to Kelowna & cjex.net? Read our thoughts on these three pieces from a recent show:
63-48 This smoky quartz cocktail ring from Dabakarov pulled at my heart strings. The richness of the smoky quartz is softened by the rose gold. It denotes smooth elegance and grace. The diamonds are truly an accent and not in the least overwhelming. I would wear this more with jeans and a flowing top rather than a dress. A manicure of nude nails would give this ring center stage.
1-20219 I discovered this ring the first day of one of my buying trips. Day one is typically a “looking only” day. I want to see what sticks in my head. Let me tell you, once I saw this wedding set, it was permanently etched in my brain. It is everything I look for in a bold design – it is architectural & interesting from every dimension. I particularly enjoy how the center diamond has an illusion of “floating” and you can enjoy every angle of the diamond. The European soft square ring design makes it ultra comfortable to wear and the accent diamonds in the corners are the icing on the cake. Can you see why it was indelibly marked on my mind?
8-20279 Whimsical. This Italian born & finished cuff is a little bit whimsical. The fluid yellow gold design is not uniform, rather it has almost an organic feel to it. The white gold edges frame it beautifully and all the edges are finished to perfection. Smooth lines and yet flexible. This cuff really moves with you – if you put your arm on a table, it has just enough flexibility to conform to a new circumstance. Comfy to the max!
