If you haven’t seen the fall 2013 shopping guide on style.com yet, take a peek. Even though I’m not at all excited about cooler temperatures it does help to lift the mood when you contemplate the new choices in fashion and jewelry. And the geek in me still gets excited about new pencils and notebooks, but I digress. Back to the jewelry.
In that style guide, H is for heirloom. This is a very strong trend we’ve been seeing for a while, even in bridal. The look of antique family jewelry, maybe that could have been passed down from generation to generation. It’s sentimental but the looks are strong, so this isn’t exactly your grandma’s pearls.
We have a few pieces right now that fit into this trend, maybe this can help with ideas on pieces you already own. Or use it as a shopping list. 🙂 Or better yet, as a wish list that you print off and hand to someone special. A not so subtle hint.
First choice is a cool vintage styled diamond necklace. Very unique, lots of sparkle and still not too much for everyday. There is a matching diamond ring available too, if you really want to take this to the next level. Diamonds work with everything and the mix of round and baguette diamonds takes this back to more of a Victorian look.
If your grandmother drove a Bentley and had a gardener… this might be more to your taste when it comes to “heirloom”. Beautiful bezel set diamonds, a total of .83 carats! Gorgeous and definitely with an antique vibe. The matching earrings are pretty hot too. 🙂
This very cool pearl necklace has black and white pearls and a really fun lariat style. You can wear it shorter, as a choker almost or longer, up to 18 inches. It’s versatility means it can work with so many different necklines. It’s like an updated way to wear a classic, pearls everyday rather than just in the evening.
