Have you ever gone back to your first post of the year on Instagram to see what you were doing or thinking aaaaall the way back then? So much can change in a year. For the team at CJEX, 2019 was busy (and that’s an understatement) – packed with events, jaw-dropping jewelry, and personal milestones.
As we approach a new decade, why not take the time to look back at the highlights of this year? Here’s what the CJEX team loved the most.
1. Noam Carver Noam Carver Noam Carver!
Spring 2019 saw CJEX playing host to the experts of Noam Carver, who flew in from Montreal with a trove of gorgeous rings. Over the 15th – 16th of March, CJEX featured a curated collection of Noam Carver jewelry in-store, giving shoppers plenty to ogle over.
We couldn’t get enough wedding bands, and to satisfy our appetite we featured stacking wedding bands, so our clients didn’t have to choose just one. From engagement rings to gemstone jewelry, this event had a wide selection of styles and having Noam Carver experts in the store was educational, inspiring, and just so much fun.
Who said men’s jewelry can’t be high on selection? We featured 500 wedding bands with various colours, widths, and designs.
Wedding band events call for wedding-themed goodies. We decided to treat our customers (and ourselves?) with champagne and custom cake pops — Sugar Sweet’s treats are a favourite amongst our team. Calories don’t count during special events, right?
For two days, the store was wall-to-wall packed for the Noam Carver event. Our team was determined to be prepared for every client who came through our doors, so we scheduled appointments in advance. Walk-ins were welcomed, but the volume of traffic was such that some people were turned away (which we don’t like to do at all!)
This 2020, we’re planning the wedding band event of the year
Mark your calendar for April 3 and 4, because we’re hosting another Noam Carver event next year. Big news: Noam Carver himself will be there! You won’t want to miss the opportunity to meet this brilliant designer and add a little something special to your shopping experience.
If Noam doesn’t have you swooning already, he plans to pay the tax on your Noam Carver jewelry purchases. All weekend long, any Noam Carver jewelry ordered in-store or online will be tax free! TIP: since our last event was so popular, we recommend all Noam Carver fans book appointments in advance!
2. Our Favourite Jewelry Pieces of 2019
It was hard to pick just a few from the vast variety of new items which came across our shop tables this year. Here’s a curated selection of the best and brightest for 2019.
Tacori Rainbow Bands
This year, Tacori’s rainbow wedding bands made their mark on social media, where women mixed and matched sets within a variety of colours, getting creative with stacking and pairing with wedding jewelry. These are great for personalizing for birthstones.
At first sighting of the SimonG Baguette in Las Vegas, we fell hard and fast for this breath-taking piece. The delicate balance of the yellow and white gold captured everyone’s attention, and we couldn’t take our eyes off the gorgeous centre diamond. With its elongated appearance and intensity, this diamond effortlessly achieves a modern, yet timeless look. You can also customize your ring if you prefer a rounded diamond for a more traditional style.
Lorelei Bands by Hearts on Fire
These Lorelei bands are as bold as they are beautiful. The unique width makes these statement pieces perfect for your index or middle finger. Have you ever seen a design so striking?
Pear Cut Diamond Ring by Noam Carver
Imported all the way from Las Vegas, we are ecstatic to offer this one-of-a-kind ring here in Kelowna. The pear-cut diamond is stunning and sophisticated (on trend, but not trendy, if you know what we’re saying?)
3. Celebrating Staff Weddings
Amongst the hundreds of couples we assisted this year in finding their dream rings, two of them were from our own crew – Sabrina & Cameron, and Sara & Steve.
On December 30, 2018, Sabrina and Cameron tied the knot with a beautiful winter wedding at the Laurel Packinghouse in downtown Kelowna. During what we all agree was the most romantic evening ceremony ever witnessed (of all time), the bride and groom announced their vows, exchanging a ring by Parade Designs (Sabrina’s) with a wedding band by Carlex for Cameron.
Following in her sister’s footsteps on the whole tying-the-knot front, Sara was wed to Steve at Sandhill Winery in the late afternoon of May 14th, 2019. Sara and Steve exchanged vows with her ring by Hearts on Fire and his wedding band by Carlex. The celebration was all giddy, happy energy and so much fun.
4. Presenting Sponsorship for the BCSPCA Offleashed Gala
The idea of supporting a worthwhile cause in the community in a significant way had been on our minds for years, and in 2019 we went all-in as the presenting sponsor for the BC SPCA Offleashed Gala in Kelowna. Our pets are important to us, and we believe in the power of the BC SPCA programs to make a difference in the lives of animals.
The gala this past November was glamorous and fun, and happily shared with like-minded business owners, advocates and animal enthusiasts. Delivering a speech in front of a crowd of over two hundred attendees was just a little, tiny bit nerve wracking – but so worth it.
Check out our recap of the SPCA Offleashed Gala to find out more about the special event and what you can do to support the BC SPCA.
Canadian Jewelry Exchange is a family-run business with over thirty years in operation in Kelowna. 2019 was a wild ride for our team, and we can’t wait for what lies ahead in the new year, for ourselves and for our customers, whose weddings, engagements, and other special events make our work so rewarding and fun. Stop by and see us in 2020 at 590 KLO Rd.
Thank you for a great year!
