The Okanagan Valley is home to some of the best wineries on the planet. A visit to our beautiful valley is not complete without visiting some of the gorgeous estates that produce to-die-for wine. We wanted to highlight some of our favorite wines from locals. There will be more blog posts as we discover more (and more!) If you have a chance to taste them yourself, even better.
Mission Hill’s Martin’s Lane Viognier
We discovered this gem last summer (2013) when we were finally able to drag my Dad (founder, Carl) kicking and screaming on a wine tour. He likes to work…not play…a whole other blog post 🙂
We started with lunch at the Terrace Restaurant at Mission Hill & since Viognier is “my grape”, I knew what I was having. This one didn’t disappoint. Mission Hill’s website describes the tasting notes as “the 2012 Martin’s Lane Viognier opens with intense aromas of orange rind, apricot, ginger, honey and fresh-cut flowers. The palate displays flavours of tangerine, nectarine, crème fraîche, and peach syrup. Ripe in flavour, broad in texture, yet balanced with a refreshing zing of citrus-laced acidity.” This wine is crisp & refreshing. It is a must for an early summer backyard dinner or just keep in the fridge for a relaxing sip after a long day of work. Highly recommended!!!
